QITTLE To Launch “Live The Dream” Contest

October 8, 2009

Aspen, CO (October 8th, 2009) – Imagine a year of your life submerged in outdoor activities, culture and fine dining in a place high in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

The little town, situated at the base of a mountain boasts an eclectic mix of people. The rich and famous often find themselves mingling with some of the most talented ski bums, living paycheck to paycheck in order to live the mountain lifestyle. When the days are snowy, you can step outside to ski powder runs on one of Aspen/Snowmass’ four majestic mountains. During the summer months, “lifestyle” doesn’t slow down and many who came for the winters stay for the summers when biking, hiking, concerts, fishing and festivals take over. Many only dream of the chance to live even one year of their life in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado. This is the year you can live that dream.

Really now, we have stooped, lets pick it up….

September 14, 2009

One promise I made to myself, before I even started a blog, was that I would never use this blog to take up any sort of political agenda.  Now mind you, I did reserve the right to change my mind.  And I have.  Just this once.

Last week, President Obama delivered a speech to the children of our nation.  I am still reeling from the onslaught of rhetoric delivered by the nay sayers of the political party my father is affiliated with, and the subsequent upheaval of negativity which continued until long after the speech was delivered. (and is probably still going)

Mind you I will probably catch a little flack for what I am about to say, but, I can assure you; the flack will come from the same people.  You know them; always saying it can’t be done.

I commend President Obama for one thing, that is his willingness to grab the health care situation here in the U.S. right by the nose, stare it straight in the eye and say “game on”.  No fancy dance, or songs, or anything else for that matter.  This is his call to action.  Make it happen.  Never before have I seen such a resolve to bring two opposing groups together to make something happen.  For that Mr. President, you have my respect.

Most of what can be said about this has been summed up by a close friend of mine.  Tom, you are right on the money, as usual.

Tom writes the day of President Obama’s speech:

“When I saw Barack Obama speak at the 2004 Democratic Convention I figured it was a matter of time before he’d be president. I took a pragmatic view. I thought that, even though his politics would be liberal (HOW liberal was still unknown back then), some good might come from having an African American president espousing the virtues of hard work and personal responsibility, especially among the segment of the population who would be most likely to hold him up as a role model, and would most need to hear it (for those of you haven’t mastered the rules of engagement as set out by the Huffington Post or MSNBC…I’m certain that statement makes me a racist).

Although I pretty much hate everything else he’s done since he took hold of the federal steering wheel and cranked it hard left, today was that moment that I gave him back in 2004. So while some on the right are going apoplectic because their kids will spend 20 minutes of alone time with the anointed one becoming obedient little socialists, I’m siding with Newt, Sean, Sykes and others who have read the speech and realize that it contains a message that kids in school need to hear. Truth is truth no matter who speaks it. And if Teachers’ Union and school board’s admiration for their president make it mandatory, then I say that’s OK by me.

There are plenty of issues to be critical of, but this ain’t one of ‘em. Certainly we’re capable using a little common sense, consideration and civility and not just going off in a blind rage because we hate everything that comes out of the White House. By not giving credit where credit is due, we end up looking like those on the left looked during the Bush administration.

As intelligent conservatives, we can do better.

I know you can do it.”

You can read the transcript of that speech at here.

Tomato to the forehead

August 18, 2009

Some days I am so on autopilot that a fresh ripe tomato could hit me in the forehead and I wouldn’t even flinch.  Today is not one of those days.  From the very moment my connection to the internet was established this morning I was aware of every little nuance about the information swirl that engulfed me.

And from that fray, came this article about motivating your team.  I have been working on a small side track from my normal routine for a few days now gathering information to absorb and mull about this very subject.  Today I didn’t even have to look.  There it was, right in front of me.  Don’t get me wrong, this same information was in everything else I was gleaning, but it just wasn’t enlightening my thought process.  It sometimes amazes me still how this happens.  I am only so grateful it does.

This little gem I have been telling you about comes from Michael Hyatt who is the CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers.  Michael, thank you for your post today.  It was just what I was looking for.

You can follow Michael on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/michaelhyatt. I do.  He is worth the follow, trust me.

Get out of my way, please.

August 13, 2009

As far back as I can remember I have had an affinity for being active.  Until recently that is of course, and the only excuse I can come up with is that my current mountain bike has become the bane of my existence, due to it’s age and the huge empty spot in my wallet reserved for the large wad required for a new one.  There.  That’s it.  My only excuse.

Fast forward to today, where I come across a tweet of the famed Specialized brand I so love, telling me about a “fab contest I can enter and, (get this) win a sweet ride on a 2010 FSR Stumpy”.  No, I am not going to pass this up.

Mind you I can think of probably 20 reasons why these guys  should put me up on this vehicle of bliss, but for now I will only indulge in the three biggest reasons.

First and foremost, the 2010 Stump Jumper FSR is the ride to have.  Hands down.  I have tested this bike (even though that test ride was the 2009 version a couple of months ago) and I still savor the moments of complete control in some of the best terrain Wisconsin has to offer.  Never, ever, have I felt so competent on a bike.

Secondly, I am an avid advocate of our great trails located here in Wisconsin.  Whenever I find myself in a group setting, the conversation eventually leads to outdoor recreation and my love of riding the trails at 9 mile county forest, Standing Rocks and the UnderDown to name just a couple.  I typically find that a lot of people do not know these trails exist and I make it my duty to let them know about my favorite section or view at these locations.  And hey, who knows, if I do happen to acquire a new ride, I am so going to visit every last trail system I know of and the rest of the ones I don’t know of.  Although I don’t race the WORS circuit any more, I do love the trail systems that have been created to support this great race series, and all of these are on the list of rides I have already started.

The last reason I need this ride is this blog.  A reason to continue.  I had lost my taste for this writing stuff only because my original direction to write was purely technical and I felt that I needed to rehash everything that had already been said but in my own words.  My interpretation of those technical tidbits drained the life from my Jedi like writing habits.  I now feel new life as I provide this entry, and if given the chance to write about it, will be ever so diligent about keeping this task alive.  After all, success is achieved by actions, after thoughtful consideration of the task at hand.

So, Specialized, if you see fit to set me up with a kit, I will not disappoint.  In fact, you may just have the best ninja-like riding/blogging crazy Specialized biker guy located in central Wisconsin.  And who knows, I may just get to ride with some of the coolest people in the world that I haven’t met yet.  Enough said.

Qittle featured in Aspen Peak Magazine

The Qittle Gang

The Qittle Gang

Picture a marketing tool that could potentially reach anyone at any moment, casting a large, highly-targeted net while directly conveying a specific message. This advertising tactic is the cornerstone of Qittle, an Aspen-based mobilemarketing provider that’s revolutionizing the way businesses reach their consumers – by using text messaging. Casey McConnell’s entrepreneurial spirit rings (or vibrates) with each message.

“The mobile phone is the new personal computer,” says the soon-to-be 31-year-old CEO. Qittle provides an instantaneous line of contact between company and consumer: Whether it’s announcing eight inches of new snow at Snowmass or a new “Body Pump” class at Aspen Club & Spa, Qittle’s platform gives clients the freedom and mobility to communicate at the press of a button.

The future looks bright for Qittle. Clients are jumping on board in droves, and McConnell has big plans for his business. “I want Qittle to be to mobile what Google is to search.”
